Reviews, Retail Release, and DC Deck-Building Game Kickstarter
about 2 years ago – Tue, Apr 26, 2022 at 09:03:31 AM

DKR fans,

The word from most of the backers is that you’re really enjoying your copies of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — The Game. That makes all the months of work from the members of our team worth it. Thank you!

Critics are also playing the game and they are loving it just as much. The game got the Seal of Excellence from popular YouTube channel The Dice Tower and a positive review from Roll for Crit.

If you’re a French or Spanish-language backer, games are still on track for fulfillment in May. We expect them to arrive early/mid-May at the port with fulfillment starting a week or so later.

Retail Release

The retail release of the game is just a few days away. If you have any friends who missed out on the campaign and enviously stare at your game, tell them to get their own copy! They won't get the Kickstarter Exclusive stretch goals, but it’s still an amazing (and beautiful) game. Preorder here!

Video on How to Pack Components in the Box, Plus French & Spanish Language Updates
about 2 years ago – Fri, Apr 01, 2022 at 12:37:02 AM

DKR fans,

First of all, we are excited to see that many of you have received your games and are happy with the final product. This was a real labor of love for all involved over several years, so we are thrilled to hear how much most of you are enjoying the game!

In terms of English-language fulfillment, almost all backers in the US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, and New Zealand should have received their games. If you’re in the Asia Pacific region or “Rest of World,” your games have been shipped out as well, but it may take longer for you to receive.

As for French- and Spanish-language fulfillment, due to unexpected supply chain issues and freight delays, it’s unfortunately going to be May until you receive your rewards. Games are on the water and should be at warehouses to send out in early May. We are not happy about the delay and apologize, but it was genuinely out of our control (the departure port was literally closed for weeks).

How Do You Put Everything Back in the Box?

There’s a lot of STUFF in each copy of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — The Game. Once you punch out your tokens and standees, how do you get everything to fit back in the box? We put together a video with our lead game designer Mataio Wilson to show you how we pack everything in the box. We hope it helps!

Fulfillment Update and Kickstarter for Steve Jackson’s Munchkin Presents Batman
about 2 years ago – Sun, Mar 06, 2022 at 05:37:19 AM

DKR fans,

As we said last time, English-language copies of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — The Game are all set for fulfillment at various warehouses around the world. In terms of specific regions: Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific, and UK rewards are shipping out now, so backers should start receiving games any day now. We are waiting on confirmation for when EU games will start going out, but it will be a matter of days.

As for the US/Canada, Quartermaster Logistics is in the midst of sending out another major Kickstarter, which has delayed the start of your games being shipped to March 9. But that’s only a few days away. Almost there!

Check out the customer service info below.

Steve Jackson’s Munchkin Presents Batman Kickstarter

Holy amazing Kickstarter, Batman! We know you love The Dark Knight, so we thought you might be interested in checking out an awesome game with a very different version of the character.

We worked with our good friends at Steve Jackson Games on their new game Munchkin Presents Batman and it's on Kickstarter NOW. Illustrated by John Kovalic, with far more cards than any normal Munchkin set, this blockbuster campaign will run until March 18.

Players take the part of Batman’s Rogues Gallery, causing trouble throughout Gotham City, ranging from petty crime (Take Candy from a Baby) to nigh-impossible (Reveal the Location of the Batcave). Along the way, they will Jaywalk, Conspire to Commit Mopery and Dopery, and Dip Commissioner Gordon in Peanut Butter. Players will have dozens of weird and wacky hirelings and gadgets to help them. But Batman, Robin, and Commissioner Gordon are there to stop them. The first one to Level 10 is the greatest Super-Villain in Gotham City!

Pledge now before it’s too late!

The Time Has Come… The Dark Knight Returns!
about 2 years ago – Fri, Feb 25, 2022 at 11:11:32 PM

“The time has come. You know it in your soul. For I am your soul... You cannot escape me…”

DKR fans,

Have Alfred dust off your batsuit (or, you know, get it yourself), because it’s time! Fulfillment of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — The Game is beginning!

All English-language copies have arrived at ports in the US/Canada, UK, EU, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia Pacific and are at fulfillment centers. Fulfillment will commence now, which means rewards should start shipping out at the start of next week. Shipments will arrive faster in some areas than others, but we expect most backers (outside of "Rest of World") to have their games in the next couple weeks. When you get them, tell us what you think. We are so excited to hear your reactions!

SLEEVING YOUR CARDS

A funny thing happened during the development of the game: It got bigger and bigger. Co-designers Daryl Andrews and Morgan Dontanville had so many amazing ideas and we were not going to stand in their way! It was late in the process when we realized that the additional content meant the box could not easily hold sleeved cards. We could have made the whole box bigger, but making the components box (a.k.a., the Base Game box) bigger would have necessitated making the miniatures box bigger to match in the Deluxe Edition; in turn, this would have made the slipcase much larger. Basically, it would have made the Deluxe Edition beyond HUGE and resulted in more expensive shipping, which we didn’t feel comfortable charging (plus it would have delayed things).

We attempted to adjust the tray holding the components to fit sleeved cards, but we could not do so without harming the structural integrity of the tray and damaging components during shipping. So in the end, the box is not optimized for sleeved cards.

BUT for those of you who want to sleeve their cards, there are some creative solutions to getting sleeved cards to fit. The easiest option: You can get rid of the tray completely.

If you feel comfortable cutting the tray, there is a solution that surely isn’t the most elegant, but does get the job done. Here’s a video showing how we got sleeved cards to fit. Please be extremely careful: You’re not really Batman (unless you really are Batman… if so, hey Batman, we’re big fans!). Check it out!
