Unboxing Video and Rulebook… Plus Fulfillment Is Imminent!

DKR fans,

We are getting ever closer to fulfilling your copies of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — The Game. English-language games have mainly arrived at ports in different regions around the world and we’re now aiming for fulfillment of all these games to begin at the same time. Here’s where we stand:

•  US/Canada: Arrived at the fulfillment center yesterday and ready to start fulfilling either week of February 21 or week of February 28
•  UK: Arriving at the port February 19
•  EU: Arrived at the fulfillment center and ready to start fulfilling
•  Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific: Arrived at fulfillment centers and ready to start fulfilling
   

Our aim is to start fulfilling all at the same time, but the UK is a little behind, so we may initiate everywhere else and the UK just a few days later. If you qualify as ROW (“Rest of World”), your orders will be sent out from the US at the same time as US backers, but they will take longer to arrive due to international shipping.

SHIPPING ADDRESSES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE

If you have already provided your shipping address via BackerKit and are being fulfilled by Quartermaster Logistics, you will receive an email 2-3 days before fulfillment begins in your region, giving you one last chance to update your address. If you have NOT sent us your address at all: Please send us a message immediately via Kickstarter or cryptozoic.kayako.com.

Let the Countdown Begin!

DKR fans,

It has been a long road and that quote encapsulates how our team teams feels after all the time and work we’ve put in over the years on Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — The Game. We should feel exhausted, but we don’t… we feel absolutely amazing and so excited. We are weeks away from getting you your games. We expect fulfillment to begin in late February. Here’s a rundown of when we anticipate English-language games arriving at ports in different regions before heading to fulfillment centers: 

•  US/Canada: February 10 at the port
•  UK: February 17 at the port
•  EU : this week or next week at the port
•  Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific: already arrived at fulfillment centers, but will not start shipping out until US games start shipping
   

French and Spanish language versions are a bit behind, so they won’t start fulfilling until around April. We apologize for the delay, but this is a massive game and we wanted to get the translation just right.

SHIPPING ADDRESSES

If you have already provided your shipping address via BackerKit, you will receive an email from Quartermaster Logistics 2-3 days before fulfillment begins in your region.

If you need to UPDATE your address: Please wait until you get this email to contact Quartermaster Logistics and let them know you need to update your address.

Games Are on the Water!

DKR fans,

Your games are on the way! As planned, the games left China aboard ships right after Christmas and are on their way to hubs around the world. Games should arrive at the US warehouse in mid-February, so fulfillment remains on track for late February. We are doing our best to commence fulfillment worldwide at the same time as the US (where the bulk of the backers are), so the process should begin simultaneously no matter where you live.

This project has been YEARS in the making for our team, so we are SO excited to get you your games! We think you’ll be super happy and know that this was a labor of love by big-time fans of Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. We’ll have some more updates and previews in the weeks leading up to fulfillment.

Batarangs Flying Everywhere… Plus Production Is Complete!

Production on Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — The Game is finally complete! We had a bit of a delay on this completion, however, due to the Batarang dice. Short version: We fixed the issue with the Batarangs and games should start fulfilling in February. Longer version below…

As we explained when we did our “To Engrave or Not to Engrave” poll a few months ago, engraving meant that the wings for the Batarangs had to be produced separately and glued on. Though earlier samples from the factory had held up fairly well to being thrown, the final samples that came to our offices a few weeks ago weren’t quite good enough. Most of them were fine, but every once in a while, a Batarang wing came off; it could be reattached easily but we didn’t want you to have to deal with this issue (and potentially gluing them so they stay on).

So, we told the dice factory that they had to do better. They remanufactured all of the Batarang dice and assembled them using a stronger, slow-drying glue… and more of it. The factory sent us quality control and testing videos.

Beyond that, our main factory sent representatives to the dice factory to do “aging testing” (that takes 48 hours) to verify even more that the dice were improved enough. Finally, we received samples in the office and after throwing the Batarangs over and over again (injuring some coworkers in the process), we are happy with the results and feel like we have done everything we can to ensure the quality. The slight delay caused by improving the Batarangs delayed completion of the game and pushed out fulfillment slightly. We now expect games to leave China via ships right after Christmas; due to the Christmas-time rush, we paid a premium to lock a shipment date and stay  on track. Estimated arrival in the US is now late January or early February (with similar/earlier arrival dates in other regions). So that means fulfilment should begin in February worldwide. Almost there!
